What a super evening this was. In the fabulous hall of Englefield House, Old Boys, past and current parents and friends of the school came together for a fabulous dinner, a talk by Sir Max Hastings and an auction led by Jonty Hearnden of the Antiques Roadshow. In aid of the Theatre Appeal, the evening raised awareness of the two major initiatives for the Horris Hill Foundation, chaired by Roddy Gow OBE (OB 1955-1960): pushing ahead with the state-of-the-art new theatre and the provision of bursaries. These initiatives are part of a long term goal to secure the school’s future and its continued position as one of the top prep schools in the UK.
With signed copies of Max Hastings’ latest book ‘Vietnam’ on display and auction lots ranging from personal coaching at Lord’s from Middlesex and England cricketer, Nick Compton, to a stay in a luxury chateau in Burgundy, tickets to a West End show and sporting internationals and more, this was an occasion to savour. Huge thanks go to Marina Lund, Chair of Governors at Horris Hill and Molly Tollit, Headmaster’s wife, for organising such a treat for us all.
