Benjamin Franklin would have been proud. Even the Wright Brothers would have been impressed. With a top flight time of 47 seconds, the homemade kites from some of our seniors were well-designed and effective.
Made from an assortment of bin liners, flower sticks, smart florist ribbons, parcel tape, garden twine and various coloured bendy drinking straws, the sky above our local Iron Age hill was a flurry of ducking and diving. Some kites even had a dual function. Not mere kites these; they were also rather good daisy cutters.
