Members of Form 1 spent a day going back in time and touching the past as
theytoured the sights of Roman London, from the amphitheatre sections under the Guildhall, some remains of the Roman walls, to the many and varied displays in the Museum of London's Roman galleries.
There were weapons of war, samian jars, gold coins from several periods and a reconstructed Roman dining room complete with frescoes and mosaic flooring. In addition, there were dioramas a-plenty, tombstone inscriptions to translate for some members of the public, lead fragments with curses written on them and more.
This was a fun and informative day out. Next stop on the Roman trail for these boys will be the spectacular amphitheatre in Nimes and the Pont du Gard as part of the forthcoming trip to Montpellier.
