The bi-annual sponsored walk for pupils, parents, friends of the school and assorted pets and livestock is one of the highlights of this term. We have three criteria when choosing a charity to support : it must have a Horris Hill link, it must be child centred and it must be small. The charity Swings & Smiles fits the bill perfectly.
Sunday morning saw us all gearing up for our ten mile hike through the wonderful local countryside. Spirits were high when everyone set off from the newly opened pavilion on Top Field and the army of marshals was in place. Horris Hill lads are a hardy bunch. A long walk across fields, over stiles, along tracks and through puddles is like a walk in the park to them. Once back, the boys set about playing either outside or inside and the day was rounded off with a full roast supper.
This was a super first weekend. My thanks to all the boys obviously, for being such good adverts for the school, to all the staff who either walked, marshalled, did duty or provided us all with such a wonderful lunch and to all the many parents and friends of the school who came along to take part and support.
