What a great way to start the new academic year! Our first weekend in and all the boarders, both old hands and new, enjoyed a range of fun events and activities that spanned both Saturday and Sunday. We had a massive barbecue on Saturday evening, followed by the annual Spy Game which had all our most senior age group boys and some staff taking the roles of spies intent on breaking into the main school without being caught by everyone else. It was an epic contest.
Sunday saw one group visiting a large outdoor water activity centre, whilst others went to a massive event, ‘Heroes at Highclere’, at Highclere Castle. This involved seeing original World War Two planes such as the Spitfire and the B17 Flying Fortress in the air. With face painting, re-enactors, a field hospital, a Punch and Judy Show and, rather strangely, a couple of Star Wars Stormtroopers also on offer, it was a great way to enjoy an afternoon.
If all that was not enough, we welcomed a Laser Tag company to school in the late afternoon to lay on a laser tag experience for our boys which involved charging around vast areas of our wonderful woodland with futuristic looking headgear and lasers.
It has been a super first weekend.
