In what is almost certainly a first for Horris Hill, the weekend started with a group of our boys showing sheep at the Royal County Show outside Newbury. Much training had gone on prior to the event and the high placings and special awards that were gained are a source of great pride.
Saturday evening saw another of our BBQ suppers, this time finishing with a milk float resplendent with the flags of various Rugby World Cup nations from which was served ice creams of all colours and mixtures.
Sunday saw a group travel to Marlborough to play fives in their courts and we hosted a Parents and Sons Golf Competition.
Whilst all this was going on another group went to see the second day of the Royal County Show. This is the show with the Kangaroo Kid who performs daring wheelies and jumps on his modified quad bike, a craft marquee featuring Funky Splashbacks, a parade of hounds, birds of prey, llamas, massive livestock displays, hot air balloons and much, much more. There was even a Shetland Pony Grand National. Sunday closed with a lovely evensong in the chapel with the choir and congregation of boys, staff and parents in fine singing form.
Thanks to all for another fun and varied weekend.
