Saturday evening saw us enjoying one of those wonderful, slightly unusual yet
amazingly creative events that seem to be the hallmark of so much that goes on here at weekends. This was the Ready, Steady, Cook evening and the boys set to work designing menus, preparing their ingredients and cooking with MasterChef precision over barbecues lit by themselves. As the aroma of gently simmering chicken kebabs and hand-made burgers took to
the air, salads of intricate and mouth-watering design began to appear as if by magic. With tabletops set with decorations fit to grace any royal banquet, this was indeed a memorable evening of fun and creativity.
On Sunday, a group went off to sample the Zambesi, Colorado and Mississippi. You might well feel that that was a tall order for a group on a day
out but we take such things in our stride. The ever popular water slides, with their exotic names, at Splashdown in Poole is always a winner and the boys had a tremendous time, not just on these but on others such as Grand Canyon and Black Thunder.
Whilst all this slide riding was going on, riding of a different sort was happening around the local countryside. A gallant band of bikers set off to explore the trackways towards Highclere and came back after a twelve mile ride with big beams of achievement written all over their faces. Also out and about was a group at the Madejski Stadium to watch London Irish and the younger boys had spent a fun morning baking upstairs in the Private Side.
It has been another busy and fun-filled weekend. My thanks to all.
