Hot on the heels of a wonderful Triathlon came a weekend full of sporting excitement with a dash of circus thrills thrown in. There was a multi-age game of Quick Cricket on Sunday morning just as some of our boys were starting their Big Wheel Bike Challenge in Savernake Forest, supported by many of our parents. The seniors, however, were being shown their paces on the rounders’ field by the girls of St Mary’s, Calne. There were also games involving shoes, hockey sticks and all sorts and all these fun events took place after a lovely barbecue. The sun was shining and the grounds outside the girls’ boarding house looked spectacular.
When a colleague said he was running a Raspberry Pie club I thought that sounded just up my street. It wasn’t quite what I imagined though and all the better for it. This was no pie but pi. For those not quite up to speed with this, it’s a tiny and affordable computer that you can use to learn programming. We also had a group experiencing the delights of the big top at Gifford’s Circus in the grounds of Blenheim Palace and the members of Form 1 had started off our day with a super chapel service created and led by themselves.
