Fresh from a hugely successful and enjoyable trip to the La Manga resort in Spain, our cricketers have been training hard here at school ready for the new season. Our Chess players, too were in action in the week leading up to the start of term, this time in the National Junior Team Chess Challenge held at Hertford College, Oxford. Bearing in mind that this was a national competition, coming 5th was a fabulous achievement. Congratulations go to all.
On the academic front, it was super to hand over a Distinction Tie to our latest scholar during our first Assembly in front of the whole school. This time it was to Marlborough College and comes on the back of our numerous awards from last term.
The first weekend of term brought with it a full programme of events and activities. The woods were busy and buzzing with laser tagging action, boys were getting up close with Shakespeare and ‘Twelfth Night’ at The Watermill Theatre whilst others were enjoying the staged version of ‘Legally Blonde’ at The Hexagon in Reading. With an invitation tennis tournament, a riding trip, a crazy super-size ball competition, climbers hitting the indoor walls at the National Indoor Climbing centre in Reading and an outing to sample the waterslides of Aquadrome in Basingstoke, we can truly say that the summer is up and running!
As always, my thanks to all, staff and boys alike.
