Korean New Year – Sky Wish Balloons
Thursday 11th February
With the Korean New Year’s day due to happen during half term, the morning assembly was devoted to the subject. Three boys who live in Korea provided a lot of very interesting detail from their home experiences of this three day long holiday. One of these was the release of ‘Sky Wish Balloons’ and it was decided to send up balloons from Horris Hill after the presentation.
Prior to the day, each class had been asked to think of two wishes that could be attached to the balloons. One wish related to the wellbeing of the form and a second was for the whole school, two sky wishes per class. The wishes were read out by boys in the assembly and the sky wish balloons carried out onto ‘PB ground’. A short prayer signalled the release and a colourful jostle of twenty balloons swept up past the Stow building veering South, chased by a wintery wind.

Message for class 3B dated 24th February: Whilst out walking today I have found the remains of 2 of your Sky Wishes balloons and I Ithought you would be interested to know how far they travelled. I live in Puddletown, Dorset, about 4 miles from the County town of Dorchester. I found the wishes (an end to bullying & world peace) adjacent to the Recreation Ground, may be you could find it on a map or on Google Earth. Hope your wishes come true, Amy Knight (Leader Puddletown Guides & Brownies)
