Mathematics
The main aim of the maths department is to ensure that boys not only leave Horris Hill numerate, but also with a love for the subject. Although the syllabus is quite full, there is time for diversions, interesting problems and investigations, producing work for the walls or other related topics. Written work is obviously the core, but use is also made of the excellent IT facilities, oral work and group work. We make full use of the interactive white board in the main maths room. Numeracy work is given great emphasis.
We enter boys for the Primary Maths Challenge, the UK Junior and Intermediate Maths Challenges and the Team Challenges at the appropriate stages in their development. Certificates are presented in front of the whole school.
Maths is a flourishing subject and we are delighted that so many boys share our enthusiasm.
