Scholars/WE trip to Bath
As a post exam excursion with the Classics and History departments, the Scholars and Winchester Entrance boys visited the Roman spa town of Aquae Sulis (later to be known as Bath). After touring the remains of this popular ancient leisure centre, complete with hot spring water-therapy treatments, sacred spring wishing-wells (to throw curses on your enemies) and excellent examples of authentic hypocaust systems and other mod-cons (Roman style), the intrepid investigators (well, most of them) dared to 'sample the waters' like the Georgians and Victorians at the Pump Room, and toured the other attractions of the city. It was a thoroughly refreshing day out!
