Form 3 trip to Roman Silchester
Form 3 had a taste of Roman Britain when they visited the remains of the important town of Calleva Atrebatum (close to the local town of Silchester). They could imagine themselves on patrol around the walls, and trying to defend the gates against invaders. Then, on to the well-preserved Amphitheatre just outside the walls, where there was the chance to see if they could 'cut it' as Gladiators. Few prisoners were taken, and NAS & FJB-G just managed to survive the mass charge. Thumbs-up for a great trip with the Classics and History departments (... or should that be thumbs-down?)
