The School Day

For children in Reception through to Year 2, the school week runs from Monday to Friday.

Each morning, families are welcome to drop children off between 8.15am and 8.25am. On arrival, pupils ease into the day with calm, engaging activities such as Dough Disco or FM Club, before the school day officially begins at 8.30am.

On Monday mornings, children join the rest of the school for the Headmistress’s Assembly at 8.40am, and on Wednesdays, they take part in the whole school Chapel service at 8.30am—both lovely opportunities to come together as an independent school community.

For families needing an earlier start, a breakfast club is available from 7.30am.

Form time and registration take place from 8.30am to 9.00am (on non-assembly days), followed by the first lessons of the day. At 10.20am, children enjoy a healthy morning snack and a generous breaktime until 11.00am, before returning for a further hour of learning.

A hearty, home-cooked lunch follows, with plenty of time for fresh air and play before afternoon lessons begin.

The day winds down with a favourite moment for many: Storytime at 3.00pm, the perfect way to end a busy day.

The end of the school day offers various options for parents.

  • Option 1 – Children can be collected at 3.30pm, ‘straight home’
  • Option 2 – Children are given a snack and enjoy a break. Collection at 4.20pm
  • Option 3 – Children join activities, at 4.30pm, eat supper and can be collected at 5.30pm
